As we now lay claim to an international circulation we are pleased to have expanded our coverage in this edition to the rings of Mexico, Japan as well as catch up on the expanding popularity of the sport in Southern African.
We have received many letters and phone calls to our offices reporting their pleasure at our previous edition, especially kind words for the ‘Backdrops of the Bahamas’ article in which we featured the exploits of Cyril Ambrose, the young West Indian technician currently training in one of Japan’s most rough and tough dojo’s.

TUCKER CONTINUES JAPAN TOUR SUCCESS
It’s been six months since Billy Tucker was last in his own bed in Clinton, Mississippi after his tour of Japan has been extended not two but three times.
After several months in Great Britain last year Tucker has gone on to wrestle in the International Wrestling Enterprise, Tokyo where he has defended his World Heavy-Middleweight Championship four times against a series of high calibre contenders.
Tucker is set to depart Tokyo this week following the conclusion of the TOKYO CHALLENGER LEAGUE which he is now unable to qualify for the final.
“The truth is that I’m in need to step away and rest, there’s no chance to recoup from your injuries when you are on a tour this long,” said Tucker to our reporter in a late night telephone interview.
“I wont be out of the ring for long, but I do need to sit back and feed my chickens in my farm in Mississippi.
“As a World Champion you never know where you are going to go next, the calls and booking requests are coming in from promoters all over the world and I’m keen to continue to take on all comers, whether that is in the United States, Europe, Mexico or Japan.”
Tucker, a second generation ring veteran is known for his brawling style and brutal tombstone piledriver. Here’s hoping that he returns to a ring near you soon.

WRESTLING CHATTER by Spencer Cage
Mega Stars Wrestling presented another exciting evening of wrestling entertainment in Newcastle, UK on 10 March with a collection of the top wrestlers in Northern England not signed to Allied Promotions.
Paul Baker’s breakaway promotion MSW has not only been filling halls and theatres across the North of the country but he has slowly started to attract more stars from the Southern Halls typically aligned with the Allied Promotions cartel most recently of which Ollie ‘Dynamite’ Beeby who has signed an agreement with Baker to bring his World Lightweight Championship to Mega Stars Wrestling and defend it while he is not touring the world.
While Beeby was top of the bill taking on Hungarian Lightweight Maurice Timor in a non-Championship contest there were several other bouts to excite the grappling fans with the a lively opener between Welsh rookie Bryan Worrall being beaten in less than five minutes to former European Welterweight Champion and now ageing veteran Mick ‘Iron Fist’ Commons.
The second contest saw French Middleweight succeed in using his weight advantage to best Lewis Edwards. Before the interval there was a six person match with Shelly Crabs, Lucy Munro and The Farmer’s Daughter getting the win/
After the break two of the countries top Heavyweights went to battle when MSW’s Heavyweight title holder Kenny Rawson and pretender to the title Rick Buckley battled it out for twenty minutes before both men spilled to the ringside and the referee was forced to end the contest due to count out.
The final match was one of speed, agile and wrestling class when World Lightweight Champion Ollie Beeby was able to make the Hungarian Maurice Tibor submit to a figure four leg lock, but only after Tibor came close to picking up the win himself with a German Suplex.
No date was announced for the return, but the event was filmed for what we’re hearing is a Television special.
Results: Mick Commons def Bryan Worrall, Jean Paul Tombos def Lewis Edwards, Shelly Crabs, Lucy Munro and The Farmers Daughter def Racheal Croxton, JP Lightening and Harriet Knott, Rick Buckley NC Kenny Rawson and Ollie Beeby beat Maurice Tibor.

SOUTH AFRICAN BROTHERS LAY DOWN CHALLENGE
Two former Rugby stars have put out an international challenge as they look to take their careers to the next level.
Ernest and Herbie Nupen from Johannesburg have been wrestling professionally for three years with Ernest (21, Welterweight) and Herbie (23, Heavy-Middleweight) now regularly forming a tag team for various promoters in South Africa but have yet to expand their booking to international tours.
“We believe we have the talent to take us anywhere in Europe or America, but being from South Africa we’ve found it hard to get the attention we deserve,” said Ernest who played as a Right Prop for the Transvaal Under 19s.
“We have the perfect blend of speed and skill, I know that we’ll be a tough team to beat,” his older brother also a keen Rugby player Herbie added.
“By the end of 2021 we want to be Champions, and we’re going to stop at nothing to achieving that.”
The Nupen Brothers often nicknamed the ‘Springbok Superstars’ are two athletes that this editor will be keeping an eye on.

JACK SHERRY THE NEW BREED OF LIGHTWEIGHT STAR
Sherry (born Ivan Seric) is an Alaskan native and the son of two Serbian parents is the current owner of the World Lightweight Championship belt and has shown in his recent title defences that he is one of a new wave of wrestlers in the lighter weight classifications.
With remarkable strength and a natural aptitude for submissions he has all the fight that you would expect from someone of his pedigree.
The Lightweight Championship has become somewhat of a hot potato in the last twelve months with title holders from Great Britain, Mexico, Japan and now the United States.
When Johnny Fresno lost the title to Mexican hero Metallica Panther III in April 2020 at West Ham Baths in the UK before Fresno won the title back just a month later in Croydon in Panther’s first defence.
Fresno though was no match when he lost the Championship in a shocking turn of events in Osaka, Japan to Japanese Rookie Hisakatus Fuyuki who held the Championship until December last year when he was defeated by Sherry who was making his long awaited debut tour of Japan.
Sherry had been linked with a tour of Japan for the last five years but been unable to reach agreement with any matchmaker in the Orient to meet his demands on opponents and schedule.
While many of his peers will be quick off the ropes they would not have the power that Sherry has built his reputation around. His overhead military press which he follows up with a short arm scissors has seen him claim many victories in recent years.
With a list of former challengers in Johnny Fresno, Metallica Panther II and even Jackie Joyce there are plenty of matches that grappling fans will be keen to see this year.

LUNTLEY REAPPEARS AS KING GEORGE VI WRESTLING CLUB LIVES ON
In breaking news that this Editor has only received this morning through fax, we are informed that the disgraced KING GEORGE VI WRESTLING CLUB will live on, but not on our shores.
Former matchmaker Edwin Luntley who was widley blamed for KING GEORGE VI WRESTLING CLUB losing their weekly television contract after arranging the controversial fight between a man and a woman on the biggest fight night of the year at the FA Cup Final Live Special has reappeared in Zimbabwe and has all the licences and agreements to continue to use the KING GEORGE VI WRESTLING CLUB name.
Uncle and Nephew combination Harry Linacre and Fred Foreman have shown no desire to continue their wrestling investments following the fallout of the FA Final debacle which received negative media coverage from nearly all main stream media publication in the country.
This editor’s records can not find the last time a wrestling show took place in Zimbabwe but we are excited to see the sport has the potential to grow in new markets and wish Mr Luntley all the best in his new endeavour.
