Editor’s Note
RINGSPORT Magazine returns once more, dear reader, to bring you the latest goings-on in the noble art of wrestling. This month, we've had the privilege of witnessing a veritable smorgasbord of athletic endeavour, from the grandest stages to the humblest training halls.
Our own George "The Gentleman" Thompson continues to astound, not merely with his prowess in the ring, but also with his latest venture: the Dapper Duke Cane Collection. A gentleman's cane, we are assured, is more than just a walking stick; it is a symbol of power, poise, and prestige. We can only imagine the havoc a well-placed cane might wreak in a wrestling match.
Meanwhile, the indomitable Meritites continues to reign supreme, her kickboxing prowess and wrestling skill making her a force to be reckoned with. And let us not forget the valiant efforts of Gianluca Silenzi, the toolmaker turned wrestler, whose dedication to his craft is as impressive as his athleticism.
In other news, we've heard tales of a mysterious umbrella stand with a penchant for the dramatic, and a tea society in desperate need of a skilled brewer. Truly, the world of wrestling is full of surprises.
Until next time, dear reader, may your days be filled with thrilling matches and your nights with restful dreams of flying body slams and headlocks.
Yours in sport,
Elliot Wanderinghands

“Homenaje a la Leyenda: Metallica Panther III” - An Unmissable Christmas Spectacle at Arena del Fénix, Mexico City
One could hardly imagine a more splendid holiday treat than Homenaje a la Leyenda: Metallica Panther III, taking place this Christmas Day at none other than the hallowed Arena del Fénix in Mexico City. It promises to be a grand affair, with wrestling enthusiasts and devoted fans of lucha libre from all corners flocking to witness the occasion.
For those not yet in the know, this isn’t just a wrestling show, it’s a veritable homage to the formidable legend that is Metallica Panther III—a tribute on a scale only slightly less spectacular than a small comet shower.
The always, well informed - Edwin Luntley, Matchmaker of the KING GEORGE VI WRESTLING CLUB, was heard extolling the virtues of the upcoming gala with a level of enthusiasm that would make even the most stony-hearted gentleman sit up and take notice. “It’s quite the thing, really,” he remarked, eyes twinkling with undeniable fervor.
“The best of the best, assembled to honor the great Metallica Panther III, a former Worlds Lightweight Champion and now a massive movie star. He’s a chap like Panther doesn’t come along every Christmas, you know.”
As for the lineup, it positively brims with talent, with Luntley revealing, “We’ve got Metallica Panther II on the card—yes, he’s back, unbowed and rather eager to put a few people back in their places after the championship hullabaloo.” One can imagine Metallica Panther II glancing in the mirror with a grin, clenching a fist or two, and thinking about the forthcoming day with considerable satisfaction.
And, naturally, the affair won’t be limited to just a few scuffles. Oh, no. Luntley assures that it will feature an international assemblage of wrestling talent from all across Latin America. “Quite a show! A tremendous gathering of Mexican maestros, South American sensations, and our own KING GEORGE VI stalwarts,” he added with pride. “Arena del Fénix will be buzzing, bursting at the seams. An homage to Panther III, yes—but more than that, a testament to wrestling’s boundless charm.”
So, for those with a taste for adventure, spectacle, and a spot of manly grappling, Christmas Day at Arena del Fénix promises all of that and more. Indeed, as Luntley so aptly put it, “It’ll be a cracker of an evening. Don’t let anyone try to dissuade you!”

“Just a Day’s Exercise”: George Thompson Breaks World Pull-Up Record with Aristocratic Ease
By: Geoffrey Ainsworth[/b]
LONDON—Most men would collapse in triumph after breaking a world record for pull-ups, but not George “The Gentleman” Thompson. The self-proclaimed “Dapper Duke” shattered the world record for most consecutive pull-ups in a single session at the prestigious Royal Ascot Gymnasium this past weekend, executing an astounding 678 pull-ups without a break. It’s a feat that defied expectations—but Thompson, true to form, acted as if it were a mere formality.
The crowd, consisting of fitness enthusiasts, fellow athletes, and curious onlookers, could hardly believe their eyes as Thompson, dressed in his bespoke workout attire (a grey athletic shirt emblazoned with his monogram and tailored black trousers), performed one pull-up after another with methodical precision. Onlookers cheered and gasped as the count climbed into the hundreds, then the five hundreds, and finally towards the record-breaking number. Yet as the final count was confirmed, Thompson calmly dropped from the bar, briefly straightened his collar, and nonchalantly took a sip of imported spring water, seemingly unbothered by the thunderous applause around him.
When reporters swarmed to congratulate him on his extraordinary feat, Thompson’s response was as dismissive as it was characteristic:
“Good heavens, I wasn’t aware anyone was keeping track,” he remarked with an air of mild disinterest. “Physical conditioning is a duty of refinement, not a spectacle. I was merely maintaining my physique.”
The previous record stood at 651 pull-ups, set by a Navy SEAL known for his physical prowess and resilience. When asked if he had prepared specifically to break the record, Thompson waved off the notion with a smirk.
“Preparing? For this?” he chuckled softly. “A gentleman does not prepare to surpass the rabble; he simply does what comes naturally.”
For years, Thompson has cultivated his image as the refined paragon of physical and mental discipline, contrasting with the brutishness of many of his contemporaries. His wrestling career has been a testament to his calculated strategy and aristocratic confidence, and now, it appears his athletic endeavors extend beyond the ring. This latest accomplishment—smashing a record in a field renowned for its grueling physical demands—seems to have done little to alter his sense of superiority.
“The modern athlete chases records as if validation were required,” Thompson lectured to the press afterward. “But for the distinguished, our validation lies within. This was merely today’s exercise routine, nothing more.”
The feat has garnered widespread attention, with fitness experts noting that Thompson’s effortless performance defies conventional understanding of what the human body can endure. Sports analysts have praised his focus and strength, while critics have been left to wonder if there’s anything the Gentleman can’t achieve.
But for Thompson, the real triumph seems to be the chance to educate others on the supposed ease with which one should approach such endeavors.
“There is an elegance in control, a grace in efficiency,” Thompson mused as he collected his jacket and cane, preparing to leave the venue. “One need not strain or struggle when one is simply accustomed to greatness.”
And with that, George Thompson, world-record holder and Dapper Duke, exited the Royal Ascot Gymnasium with the same unflappable demeanor as he entered, offering the public only a raised eyebrow and a nod before disappearing into his chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce.
“True gentlemen do not aspire to be extraordinary; we are extraordinary by birthright,” Thompson had remarked earlier. It is a sentiment that rings true in every achievement the Gentleman touches.
Whether he’s outwrestling opponents in the ring or outpacing the world in feats of strength, George Thompson leaves one thing abundantly clear—there is nothing more inevitable, more refined, or more predictable than the triumph of a gentleman.

A Day in the Life of Gianluca Silenzi: Milan’s Toolmaker and Wrestling Hopeful
Gianluca Silenzi, a heavy-middleweight wrestler from Milan, lives a life filled with balance—crafting precision tools by day and honing his wrestling skills by night. At 22 years old, this dynamic athlete combines his profession as a toolmaker with a fierce ambition to make it in professional wrestling.
A typical day for Gianluca begins early in the industrial heart of Milan. After a hearty breakfast, he heads to the workshop where he spends hours working with metal and machinery. His expertise as a toolmaker, honed in both Milan and Turin, is a testament to his disciplined work ethic, a trait he carries over into the wrestling ring. Despite the physical demands of his job, Gianluca takes pride in the meticulous nature of his work, always aiming for perfection, just as he does in his wrestling.
By mid-afternoon, Gianluca is ready to transition into his second passion: wrestling. His gym sessions are intense, focusing on strength, endurance, and flexibility to prepare his body for the physical toll of competition. At the gym, Gianluca’s focus shifts from tools to technique—his movements sharp and calculated, as he pushes his body to its limits. His wrestling training is just as disciplined as his day job, with an emphasis on improving his mat skills, agility, and resilience.
As the evening approaches, Gianluca heads to the wrestling hall, where a different kind of training takes place. Here, he faces off against fellow competitors in sparring sessions, testing his strength and skill in live-action practice. Tonight, however, is special. Gianluca is preparing for an amateur tournament, part of the Great Britain & Ireland Amateur Challenge, where young hopefuls fight for a professional wrestling contract.
Despite the pressure, Gianluca remains composed—he has always viewed wrestling not as a fight, but as a display of skill and discipline. And when he steps into the ring later that night, his sharp mind, experience, and quiet strength will shine, proving why “Golden Boy” Gianluca Silenzi is a name to remember.

Yesterday’s Men: Philip Pederson
By Alan Portz
Philip Pederson, a Danish-born wrestler, is a key figure in Britain's wrestling history. Born in Roskilde, Pederson moved to England in the early 1910s and quickly established himself in the wrestling world, with a particular focus on catch-as-catch-can style wrestling. Although initially unknown to many, Pederson’s talent and determination earned him recognition, and he eventually became a respected figure in British wrestling.
In 1912, Pederson competed in major events, including the Health and Strength Physical Culture Tournament in Liverpool, where he wrestled against prominent opponents like Billy Stanley. By 1914, he had moved to London, where he worked as a meat salesman while continuing his wrestling career, although returned to Norway during the first year of the Great War. Pederson’s reputation grew in the post war years as he won several important matches, including the 1919 Catch-as-Catch-Can Middleweight Championship of the World at the Wallsingham Club in Bootle, defeating William Scholl in a highly competitive match.
Pederson’s success was further cemented with appearances at prominent venues such as the Palace Theatre in Manchester and the Free Trade Hall. He was featured in Boston & Winchester' 1921 and 1922 cigarette card sets, which immortalized famous wrestlers of the era. His participation in the Duke of Wellington Tournament, a prestigious event, showcased his standing in the sport.
Pederson’s opponents ranged from local wrestlers to international stars, including Joe Yates, Peter Grabban, and Tom Worrall. His career, which spanned various venues and weight classes, made him one of the most notable wrestlers of his time. Pederson’s contributions to British wrestling, particularly his influence in the Mersey area, secure his place as a legendary grappler. Returning to Norway sometime in the mid 1930’s, he passed away in 1937.

Introducing Gentleman George Thompson’s ‘Dapper Duke’ Cane Collection
By: Arthur Pembroke[/b]
In a bold move blending old-world charm with modern-day luxury, professional wrestler and British aristocrat George “The Gentleman” Thompson has officially launched his own line of bespoke canes, the Dapper Duke Collection. Known for his sharp suits, bowler hats, and aristocratic demeanor inside the wrestling ring, Thompson is bringing his impeccable taste and style to a new venture that promises to bring elegance to the masses—albeit, those who can afford the finer things in life.
The Dapper Duke Collection features a range of hand-crafted walking sticks, each designed with precision and opulence. Made from the finest materials—such as mahogany, ebony, and ivory—the canes are adorned with handles fashioned from sterling silver and gold, often featuring intricate designs, family crests, and personalized engravings. A signature piece of the collection is the “Gentleman’s Honor Cane”, which boasts a silver lion-head handle and black lacquered finish, symbolizing strength and sophistication.
In a recent interview, Thompson described the inspiration behind the collection:
“A gentleman must always carry himself with dignity, both in and out of the ring. These canes are not mere accessories; they are statements of power, poise, and prestige. A true gentleman never walks alone—he walks with purpose and elegance.”
The line is targeted at those who appreciate high-end luxury, with each cane crafted by expert artisans in London. The collection starts at £1,500 for the standard pieces, with custom-made options available for discerning buyers, reaching prices as high as £10,000. According to sources close to Thompson, several celebrities, athletes, and business elites have already placed orders for their bespoke designs.
Thompson has been spotted carrying various versions of his canes to the ring during his wrestling appearances, where the accessory is as much a weapon as it is a fashion statement. The canes have become a key part of his persona in the wrestling world, signifying his cunning and dominance.
Fans of both wrestling and fashion are eager to get their hands on the new line, with early reviews praising the craftsmanship and attention to detail. While many critics note that the prices make it an exclusive product, Thompson is unapologetic about his brand’s position in the luxury market.
“These are not canes for the common man,” Thompson asserted with his trademark arrogance. “Only those with the true spirit of nobility will appreciate what the Dapper Duke Collection represents.”
The Dapper Duke Collection is now available for purchase through select luxury retailers and the official Gentleman George Thompson website.

Soy Sauce Slams: Kashiwazaki BLOOD's Quest for Japanese Food in the UK
By Wu Fang
Akira “Dark Wolf” Tanaka and Kenji “The Dragon” Nakamura, members of the fierce Kashiwazaki BLOOD stable, were facing an unexpected battle: finding authentic Japanese food in the UK. Living abroad to train for their upcoming match against Paul Strummer and Topper Jones at On The Mat XIII on Saturday, November 9, the two wrestlers were struggling to maintain their traditional diet. Kashiwazaki BLOOD, known for its disciplined and methodical approach, prioritized nutrition as much as physical conditioning. But in British supermarkets, ingredients like miso, dashi, and fresh sashimi-grade fish were hard to come by.
“I didn’t realize how much I relied on miso soup every morning,” Tanaka admitted, frowning as he searched the international aisle for anything resembling Japanese essentials. Nakamura, with a chuckle, pulled out a small bottle of soy sauce from the bottom shelf and held it up triumphantly, though both knew it wasn’t enough.
Thankfully, Nakamura’s family had started mailing weekly care packages. The parcels were like treasure chests from Japan, packed with dried seaweed, bonito flakes, miso paste, and packets of ramen. "The taste of home helps remind us what we’re fighting for," Nakamura said. They’d prepare these ingredients carefully, maintaining the disciplined diet that gave them their edge as Kashiwazaki BLOOD warriors.
The team spent evenings cooking simple meals together, finding strength in this ritual as they strategized for their match. "Once we’re fueled properly, Strummer and Jones won’t know what hit them,” Tanaka said, smirking. As the day of On The Mat XIII neared, Tanaka and Nakamura knew they were ready—not only to represent Kashiwazaki BLOOD’s honor, but to bring the heart of Japan into the ring with every strike and submission.

Barry Bridges: The Veteran Who Won't Stay Down
By Emiline Smith-Rowe[/b]
For decades, Barry Bridges has been a fixture in the wrestling world. A veteran of the ring, former Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion, and one of the toughest competitors to ever lace up a pair of boots, Bridges is no stranger to the grind. But after years of injury, including shoulder and neck issues that kept him away from the ring for longer than he'd like to admit, many wondered if we'd ever see "The Iron-Willed" Barry Bridges again. That was until a surprising revelation: a new treatment involving herbal remedies, medication, and a green juice diet has breathed new life into the wrestler, and he’s preparing for his highly anticipated return to the squared circle.
Now, as Barry sits in his cozy living room, surrounded by the mementos of a career that spans over two decades, he seems more focused and determined than ever before. His loyal spaniel, Kendo, rests at his side while a poster of his upcoming opponent, Hiroshi "The Titan" Suzuki, sits on the coffee table. It's a quiet setting, but there's no mistaking the intensity behind Barry's eyes as he talks about his comeback.
"I've been through my fair share of pain," Barry says, his hand absentmindedly stroking Kendo’s ears. "Shoulders, neck… you name it. I’ve taken more than my share of knocks, but I’m not the type to quit. A lot of people thought I was done when I stepped away, but that’s not the Barry Bridges way."
The struggles with injury were real. In fact, it’s what kept him away from the ring for so long. But Barry’s journey is far from over. Recently, he’s discovered a treatment plan that blends modern medicine with holistic, natural remedies—and it’s already making a difference.
"After years of doctors telling me to slow down and surgeries that didn’t quite fix the problem, I decided to look at things differently. I’m not one to just accept defeat, so I started researching alternatives," Barry reveals. "A bit of trial and error, but I’ve found a routine that works. Herbal treatments, supplements, and a strict green juice diet that keeps my body in the best shape possible."
With his body rejuvenated and his mindset sharper than ever, Barry’s gearing up for a clash with "The Titan" Suzuki this Friday in Blackpool for the On The Mat XIII television special. Suzuki, known for his size and devastating knee strikes, might be a fearsome opponent, but Barry is confident his experience and sheer willpower will carry him through.
"I know what people expect," he says with a grin. "Suzuki’s big, strong, and intimidating. But I’ve faced giants before. You can’t outsize heart. When we step into that ring, he’ll learn what it means to fight someone who knows how to endure, someone who refuses to back down."
Bridges’ confidence is palpable. It’s clear that his love for the sport, his fans, and his unbreakable spirit drive him forward.
"As much as I’ve fought through physical pain," Barry adds, "it’s the love of the game that’s kept me going. It’s not just about winning, it’s about proving to myself, and to the fans, that no matter the challenge, I’ll always come back swinging."
So, on November 9th, Blackpool will bear witness to a fight that could be one for the ages. Barry Bridges, armed with new vitality and that trademark determination, is ready to take on "The Titan." As he so aptly puts it, "Suzuki may be big, but he's never met a fighter like me."
For Barry, the comeback isn’t just about a match—it’s about showing the world that no matter how many times life knocks you down, you can always get back up again. And this time, he’s more than ready.

Meritites: The Egyptian Pharoah with a Kickboxing Edge
Alexandria, Egypt – At just 24 years old, Meritites is already making waves in the world of professional wrestling. Known as the Mother of Two Kings, she’s a dominant force in the ring, having captured the International Frauen-Berufsringer Championship and several other prestigious titles across Europe. Standing at 5'3" and 141 lbs, Meritites combines elegance, power, and technical skill, making her a unique and formidable villain in the world of women’s wrestling.
Before her wrestling career, Meritites trained in kickboxing and grappling as a teenager, competing in various combat sports across the Arab world. Her versatility as both a high-flyer and mat technician is a testament to her diverse athletic background. Her moveset, which includes a devastating Scorpion Cross Lock and a thrilling moonsault to the outside, has made her a fan favorite despite her villainous persona.
But it’s her love for kickboxing that truly sets her apart. “Kickboxing taught me the importance of precision and timing. I carry that into every match,” she says, reflecting on her journey from Alexandria to Hamburg, where she trained under the legendary Greta Wundt.
On November 10, Meritites will face off against the dangerous ‘Heart of Africa’ Jabri Awoniyi at Out For The Count on The Super Channel. With her sights set on victory, Meritites is ready to prove why she’s one of the fiercest competitors in the ring. Fans won’t want to miss this high-flying showdown.

Letters
Dear Sir,
I’ve grown increasingly frustrated with the overuse of gimmick matches, particularly the "Beat The Clock - Knockdown" match. While these concepts may seem intriguing at first, they often force wrestlers into rushed, contrived performances that prioritize time limits over meaningful skill and athleticism. Instead of allowing for organic moments of drama, these matches feel more like timed stunts, which detracts from the artistry of wrestling. I believe that while innovation is key to keeping wrestling fresh, it’s important not to lose sight of what makes it great — allowing talent to shine without the constraints of artificial gimmicks.
Sincerely,
Fanny Churler
Dear Editor,
