Doris the Cat and Her Namesake: Knobworth's Feline Duo Lend Paws for Wrestling Programme Collection
By Alan Portz
Herbert Stontenkestein, esteemed Council Planning Officer residing in the quaint and somewhat unremarkable hamlet of Knobworth, leads a life of genteel monotony that, to the casual observer, might appear rather prosaic. By day, he applies his considerable talents to the labyrinthine intricacies of zoning ordinances and the predictably staid proceedings of council meetings.
Yet, it is in the solitude of his well-appointed attic where Mr. Stontenkestein's true passion manifests. Over the course of forty years, he has diligently curated a remarkable collection of over one thousand wrestling programmes, each a testament to his undying admiration for the sport. This attic, a veritable sanctum of wrestling history, stands as a shrine to his avocation.
“I was just five when I went to my first wrestling show,” Herbert said. “Since then I’ve been hooked.”
“Many nights I sit up here with Dorris, my cat and read through old line-ups, most of them I’ve been to, others I have hunted down and traded with like minded collectors.
“My favourite wrestler of all time is the great Jackie Joyce, I’d love to see him return to the ring. I have his autograph over seventy times.”
Accompanying Mr. Stontenkestein in his residence are his rather charming cat and his venerable mother, both of whom are rather peculiarly named Dorris. It is, of course, purely coincidental that both the feline companion and the matriarch of the Stontenkestein household share the same moniker. Dorris the cat, a rather indolent creature, can frequently be found reclining atop the neatly organized stacks of wrestling programmes, indulging in the occasional bout of feline leisure.
Mrs. Stontenkestein, for her part, adheres to a more conventional routine, partaking in the daily rituals of tea and gentle conversation, and occasionally glancing over the wrestling memorabilia, though her interest is markedly less fervent than her son's.
The bucolic setting of Knobworth, with its placid streets and genteel atmosphere, provides a picturesque backdrop to Mr. Stontenkestein’s unique hobby. Each foray into the attic is not merely a revisitation of wrestling’s storied past but an exhibition of a life lived with quiet distinction and a touch of whimsical devotion.

ON THE MAT VII TV REPORT
(Taped 3 May 2020 at Fairfield Halls, Croydon, UK)
[2] Johnny Fresno beat Metallica Panther III for the World Lightweight Championship and Belt (Sunsetflip reversal in 29:31, 1st defence, full match shown)
Sir Solomon Simpson was present in the ring for the pre-match ceremonies. Fresno controlled the early opening minutes with a hammerlock and Japanese strangle. Panther did regain control with a side headlock but that didn’t go anywhere.
Fresno did dropkick Panther out of the ring and chased him to the outside only to be hip tossed into the ring steps hurting his knee. Panther looked like he was about to get a count out win Fresno was just able to get back into the ring.
An Indian deathlock and single crab were not able to force a submission from Fresno who was able to connect with a knee to the head out of nowhere that looked to open up a cut inside the mask of Matallica Panther III.
The match turned into a brawl from there with Panther nearly scoring a knock out with a brutal looking headlock that opened up Fresno’s head.
In scenes reminiscent to their contest last month in which the match was stopped due to blood loss Fresno’s blond hair was now crimson red.
He was knocked out of the ring with a big elbow, as he climbed up onto the ring apron, Metallica Panther III hooked his head for a suplex into the ring but Fresno landed on his feet behind Panther and he then scored a near fall with a German Suplex.
Panther cut Fresno off with a right hand and looked set to apply his trademark move the Cristo Metallica but Fresno kicked his foe away. Panther then sent Fresno across the ring which he reversed. Fresno bent over for a back bodydrop but Panther leaped over him for a sunset flip but Fresno stayed on his feet, hooking Panther’s legs and cradling him into a pin to win back his championship.

7 - Writer's Notes
******************
I’d like to start by thanking our many new members, it has been awesome to see such a great interest in our small world.
Due to the size of the roster I have added a second show which will be posted the day after On The Mat. It will feature a mix of full matches, highlights and bonus content. There will be a slightly lower word count limit for the reps due to its more abbreviated nature. The gimmick is this is to be shown on satellite TV internationally, to a more niche but growing audience (think early days of cable TV or Sky TV if you are from the UK).
Hopefully those that participated enjoyed ‘The Commonwealth’ trip to Tonga. These side shows are a great way to bring in new characters, territories and advance our stories. The next show of this kind will be 19 October when we head to Jamaica, due to roster size please get in touch ASAP if you would like to be booked as the card will be limited on a first come first serve basis. I have removed The Commonwealth board and will add the specific Commonwealth threads to ‘The Lobby’, which is our version of a OOC board so please feel free to post there.
Please get in touch if you have feedback or ideas. Finally if you or anyone you knows wishes to participate please spread the word. I’m also on the hunt for experts in BBCode and Graphic Design as well as expand our list of affiliates.
Thanks for the fun,
Chris
